the National Forest. Licenses are sold at sporting good and

Some of the
largest salmon in the lower 48 states swim up the rivers of
the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest every year. Winter
steelhead runs on the Chetco, spring and fall runs of Chinook
salmon on the Rogue and Illinois rivers bring thousands of
anglers to the Forest each year to cast their lines in the
water.
Applegate Lake is a popular recreation lake located north of
the Red Buttes Wilderness Area in a picturesque setting. The
lake is popular for cycling, boating, canoeing, fishing and
hiking the various trails near the lake. This lake is a
reservoir and lake levels will often be lower at the end of
the summer. Size: 988 acres, Depth: Average depth is 85 feet
and maximum depth is 225 feet at full pool. The elevation of
the lake is 1,987 feet.
